Acrylic cool-deck and overlay products are the industry default because they are inexpensive and easy for a small crew to apply quickly. They are also thin, porous and built on a chemistry that breaks down under sustained UV — which is exactly the exposure a Florida pool deck gets every single day of the year, not just in summer.
Polyaspartic is aliphatic by nature, meaning the resin's own molecular structure resists UV degradation rather than depending on a topcoat or a pigment to do that job. A pool deck is walked on wet more often than it's walked on dry, and the aggregate broadcast that gets folded into the topcoat is what actually creates that grip — the color and texture on top are cosmetic by comparison.
